ABOUT THE ARTIST (history of his dramatic art)
 

Jan J. Vágner comes from the West Bohemian city of Karlovy Vary (born August 19, 1948).

After attending the Chemical Technical School in Usti nad Labem, he studied at the Prague DAMU (Theatrical Arts Academy) from 1968 to 1972. After a year long engagement at the Prague Maringotka Theater and a four-year engagement at the Pribram Theater, he also acted at the S. K. Neumann Theater in Prague (today’s Pod Palmovkou Theater).
From 1980 to this day he remains a freelance artist.

Over the years, he has worked under the following film directors:
Evžen Sokolovský, Jan Matějovský, Zdeněk Hnilica, Miroslava Valová, Antonín Dvořák, Karel Kachyňa,
Jiří Krejčík, František Filip, Antonín Moskalyk, Václav Vorlíček, Jiří Troška, Martin Holý, Vladimíra Drha,
Jaroslav Hanuš, Dan Svátek, Dušan Klein, Robert Sedláček and also the French director, Phillippe Triboit (Belami).

Creating the Czech version of documentary films and in dubbing, he has worked with the following directors:
Jarmila Beranková, Jana Vaňková, Olga Valló, Jana Stejskalová, Jitka Kučerová, Miroslav Saic,
Jiří Ptáček, Helena Němcová - Dytrtová, Hana Kofránková, Jiří Kodeš, Dušan Jurčík, Petr Svoboda,
Tomáš Jančařík, Hana Ižófová, Jan Bonaventura, Vlaďka Vildová, Milan Peer, Jiřím Kvasnička,
Vladimír Žďánský, Václav Knop, Martin Velda, Zdeňek Hruška, Petr Pospíchal, Zdeňek Štěpán,
Luděk Šipla, Václav Merhaut, Robert Sedláček and Elmar Klos.

On the stage and in the radio he worked for the following directors:

Jan Berger, Dagmar Sedláčková, Ondřej Balík, Pavel Háša and Lubomír Vajdička.

At the current time, the main focus of Mr. Vagner’s endeavors is the Czech dubbing of documentary
and feature films and art photography.
